Going Home Home
I've lived on my own since I was 18 and it's been 8 years (I just realized it's been 8 years
) since I've lived with my parents. I go home as often as I can but it's hard. As you get older your life gets busier and busier and weekends are always packed jam full of errands and obligations. However, I made the trip home to bask in my parents love and my grandma's cooking. Ohhhh, I love Grandma. She makes me the best Cambodian food ever! And, she's so thoughtful. Who else makes sure there's your favorite breakfast on the table when you wake up? Or peals all the crap off 5 pomegranates because she knows it's your favorite? Or makes it a point to wave until she can't see you anymore when you leave? Grandma that's who!
There's just one thing I worry about when I go home. She has a lot of food items that shouldn't be brought over, i.e. contraband! Like dried seafood that she cured herself. When I was a wee Sekura, my stomach was iron cast and I could eat anything without consequence. Now that Sekura is a lot older, I wonder of my ability to eat these exotic foods without consequence. It's a crap shoot but I'll eat it because Grandma made it. Wish me luck!
Upcoming events: Halloween in West Hollywood! 5 Asians ladies as the cast of the Wizard of Oz. Guess who's the Wicked Witch? It's much more fun to be bad then good.

Grandmas are nice, and I'm sure your grandma would not feed you anything you couldn't stomach.

my parents are only about 7-8 miles away from our apartment. i stop by after work (opposite direction from our apt.) every monday, wednesday and friday because my dog has separation anxiety. she's happy as long as i come by and feed her dinner and pick up her poo. and if i don't tell her i'm missing a day, she becomes very sullen.
it's good to see my parents too. my mom always seems to cook too much food and packs it up and sends me home with it.
wizard of oz cast? will this be sexy wizard of oz cast complete with short skirts and stripper heels?? i just committed myself to dressing up at work. i'm going to be miss puerto roco or something...as long as i get to wear a tiara.
ryc: i just really wanted to help out. they wouldn't let me do anything big, so when i wasn't cleaning the bathroom, i was playing wii. i don't mind cleaning the shower so much at home--but i hate cleaning the toilet. i think i'm with you where i do it often becuase i just don't want to get to the GROSS level of dirty.
ryc: my mom always says you never truly master something until you make it 3 times. by then, you've learned how to adjust it so that it's perfect.
the husband approved of the lasagna. he said it looked like a lot of work (which is why he let ME do it).
